Mr J G Cooil

51289 Qualifications LDS RCS (Eng)

James Cooil trained at Liverpool University and qualified in 1977. After returning to Leicester he joined the practice at 101 Uppingham Road in 1980.

He has particular interests in orthodontics, endodontics, cosmetic dentistry and treatment of cranio mandibular disorder. James has studied extensively since qualifying developing a deep understanding of modern dentistry.

He has worked in the orthodontic department at Glenfield hospital and is a member of The British Dental Association with the Leicester Independent Practitioner Group. He has also been a member of the British Society for Occlusal Studies and the Cranio Group.

James says that: having practiced in the same surgery for over 30 years, it gives one a great insight as to what is really successful dentistry and how to provide patients with excellent oral health for a life time.

miss Wilson

63908 Qualification BDS Dip Er (Hyp) NLP DPDS (Bristol University)

Monica qualified from Cardiff Dental School in 1988 and has continued her education in the area of children's and phobic patient's dentistry by attending courses and workshops.In addition she has undergone an extra 3 years of training at Bristol University to gain a BUOLD diploma in Paediatric (Children's) Dentistry and also studied for a further diploma in Hypnotherapy to help improve her knowledge and treatment of the many children and phobic patients she sees, delivering a relaxing pain free experience with positive oral outcomes.

She is a member of the British Dental Association, SAAD (Society for Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry) dedicated to the understanding of pain and anxiety control in dentistry. Monica is also a member of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) a national society specially concerned with dental care for children in the UK.

Monica is now also offering Cosmetic Tooth whitening and is accredited to deliver the following 'Enlighten Deep Whitening' and 'Zoom 2' as featured on numerous press articles and T V make over shows allowing patients to achieve a long lasting and natural looking whiter smile at shades never before thought possible (even for those patients with tetracycline staining).

Mr C J Oxley

62733 Qualifications BChD DGDP RCS (Eng)

Chris qualified in 1987 with a degree from the University of Leeds and began working in Leicester soon after qualification. He was one of the first in the country to be awarded the Diploma in General Dental Practice by examination from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1994 and later, one of the first to be awarded the Diploma in Implantology from the same college.

Alongside general practice, Chris worked in the department of Oral Surgery at Leicester Royal Infirmary and for fourteen years in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Glenfield Hospital developing restorative skills in the management of advanced cases and in the implant rehabilitation of cancer and trauma patients. Committed to post-graduate education and training, he has undergone restorative and implant training in the UK, Italy, Monaco, Greece, Germany and the USA. He was the first Leicestershire dentist to embark on the highly-regarded and prestigious Diploma in Implant Dentistry programme and was awarded the diploma in 2007 with the advanced certificate in bone-grafting.

As a trainer of over ten years, Chris runs Dental Foundation Training and nurtures the development of new graduates within the practice. He is also actively involved at regional level in Foundation Training and liaises postgraduate training with the University of Sheffield where he teaches undergraduate dental students as Honorary Clinical Tutor in restorative dentistry. He is increasingly involved in the teaching of implantology and in addition to hands-on teaching of clinical techniques, has recently become more involved in teaching on the Sheffield University Implant Certificate/Diploma/Masters qualification.

He has a post-graduate qualification in Medical Education from the University of Nottingham, and is a member of the Faculty of General Dental Practice of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Academy of Aesthetics Dentistry and the Association of Dental Implantology. As an examiner, he examines at undergraduate level, post-graduate level on the Masters course in Implantology at Sheffield University and for the Royal College of Surgeons of England for the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF). He has several years experience as an expert witness in relation to both clinical negligence and conduct issues.

Within the practice, his particular interests are in graduate training, aesthetic and restorative dentistry, surgery and facial rejuvenation. He has been placing implants for over ten years, restoring for longer and provides an implant service within the practice for both practice patients and patients on referral.

Sharon Kenny

1473 Dip Dental Hygiene

Sharon qualified in 1977 from Guys Hospital (London) and has since used her skills and experience in this practice for over 10 years.

Sharon has a special interest working with nervous patients and builds rapport very quickly, putting them at ease and enabling them to gain greater understanding of the need for good personal oral hygiene.

She regularly attends continuous professional development courses, is a member of the BDHA and has played an active part in the organisation as chairperson of a regional group.

Jas Bains

4876 Dip Dental Hygiene

Jas Bains works as a dental hygienist, she qualified at Eastman dental hospital (London) in 1995. Jas has been working for Mr Cooil for over 8 years. She is a member of the British dental hygienist association. This enables her to keep up to date with courses and any new developments in her career.

Jas is capable of using her skills very well. She is understanding and patient. Jas has an additional value, as she can translate English for Asian patients i.e those who speak Punjabi or Hindi.

Jas job entails treating preventing gum disease in order to maintain a good standard of oral health to prevent tooth loss. This is achieved by good instrumental skills and a one to one rapour with the patient. The Patient is advised and shown of correct tooth brushing teachings and flossing or use of interdental brushes to clean in between the teeth as appropriate.

Helen Jones

5201 Dip Dental Hygiene

Helen qualified in 1997 from Birmingham dental Hospital. It was the first course of its kind to incorporate local infiltration anaesthetic injections. Helen is also qualified to read dental radiographs as well as other extended duties including administration or chemical adjuncts.

Helen joined the practice on qualification and has enjoyed working within the relaxed atmosphere along side the friendly team of staff.

Helen enjoys the challenge of achieving with the help of the patients good periodontal health through meticulous scaling procedures, both hand scale and mechanical. Through the education of patients in effective oral hygiene maintenance and find the complete periodontal overhaul of new patients very rewarding.

Helen attends postgraduate courses to keep up my continued professional development in accordance with GDC regulations.
